2D Echo (2D Echocardiography)

2D Echo, also known as 2D Echocardiography, is a safe, non-invasive diagnostic test that uses ultrasound waves to create detailed images of the heart. At MMF Ratna Memorial Hospital, our advanced 2D Echo technology helps cardiologists evaluate heart structure and function with high accuracy.

This test provides real-time images of the heart chambers, valves, walls, and blood flow, allowing early detection of various heart conditions. It plays a crucial role in diagnosing diseases such as valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, congenital heart defects, and heart failure.

Why is 2D Echo Done?

  • To assess heart pumping efficiency (ejection fraction)
  • To detect heart valve abnormalities
  • To identify congenital heart defects
  • To evaluate causes of chest pain or breathlessness
  • To monitor existing heart conditions

Procedure Overview

2D Echo is a painless procedure that typically takes 20–30 minutes. A gel is applied to the chest, and a small probe (transducer) is moved over the area to capture heart images. There is no radiation exposure, making it completely safe even for repeated use.

Benefits of 2D Echo

  • Non-invasive and risk-free
  • Provides real-time heart imaging
  • Quick and accurate diagnosis
  • No special preparation required

Stress Test (Treadmill Test – TMT)

A Stress Test, commonly known as a Treadmill Test (TMT), is used to evaluate how well your heart performs under physical stress. At MMF Ratna Memorial Hospital, this test helps detect underlying heart problems that may not be visible during rest.

During the test, your heart rate, blood pressure, and ECG are continuously monitored while you walk or run on a treadmill. The intensity gradually increases to assess how your heart responds to exertion.

Why is a Stress Test Done?

  • To diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD)
  • To evaluate chest pain or discomfort
  • To assess exercise tolerance and fitness level
  • To monitor heart function after treatment or surgery
  • To detect irregular heart rhythms during activity

Procedure Overview

The test begins at a slow pace on the treadmill, which gradually increases in speed and incline. Electrodes are attached to monitor heart activity. The test continues until a target heart rate is achieved or symptoms appear.

Benefits of Stress Test

  • Helps detect blocked arteries
  • Identifies exercise-induced heart issues
  • Assists in treatment planning
  • Non-invasive and widely recommended

Preparation Tips

  • Avoid heavy meals before the test
  • Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes
  • Inform your doctor about medications
